Directed by Mark Charles | 2016 | UK-Poland | 90mins + 30mins Q&A
The life and times of pianist and composer André Tchaikowsky.
André Tchaikowsky’s story is interwoven with the modern day journey of bringing his opera ‘The Merchant of Venice’ to the world stage, some 30 years after his death.
Musicologist, Anastasia Belina-Johnson, takes us on a present day search for André’s story. It was André’s dying wish that his opera of ‘The Merchant of Venice’ would one day be performed and as this now becomes a prospect, Anastasia follows the journey from first rehearsal to its world premiere in Austria.
The complexity of Andre’s music and some hitherto surprising and unknown events in his life, as well as the sight of his masterful opera on the world stage, all lead to an ending that would please this contrary but fascinating man.
The film will be followed by a Q&A with special guests.
